Travis Elementary, Mercedes, TX- Magic Valley Electric Cooperative is proud to be in its 2nd year of adopting Christmas Angels at Travis Elementary. Other participating organizations were the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of NSHMBA and UTPA MBA Association in which donated over 50 toys for these young children. The goal of this program is to help bring a little Christmas spirit to the children who are less fortunate.
Each year the faculty at Travis Elementary selects students who might not otherwise be receiving a Christmas gift. Their names are placed with a Christmas Angel and hung on a Christmas tree, in hopes of volunteers adopting an angel to receive Christmas gifts under the tree. A total of 84 angels were up on the Christmas tree this year, and MVEC's employees were able to adopt all angels. With all this support, the children were able to receive at least two gifts this Christmas. Friday morning several MVEC employees were able to attend the gift giving by Santa at Travis Elementary. If for one moment employees at MVEC can experience the genuine happiness of a child receiving a Christmas gift, MVEC employees will continue to support and adopt these angels during Christmas season.
