Scholarship Program 2003

For the sixth year, MVEC has awarded $100,000 to five local Rio Grande Valley High School Seniors. Over 180 students from across the Valley applied for the 2003 scholarship and the selection process was very difficult due to the caliber of applicants received. The winners were honored at the Magic Valley Electric Cooperative Annual Meeting on April 14th in Weslaco, Texas. Cody Scott Cruz of Los Fresnos High will attend Texas A&M majoring in Pre-Med. Virginia Maldonado of Edinburg High will attend Texas-Pan American majoring in Pred-Med. Veronica Tovar of Harlingen South High will also be attending Texas-Pan American majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. Tearney Wiesman of Rio Hondo High will attend Texas A&M majoring in Pre-Med. Ricardo Vasquez of Brownsville Rivera High will attend the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Music Business.
