Scholarship Program 2006

For the ninth year, MVEC has awarded $100,000 to five local Rio Grande Valley High School students. Over 200 students from across the Valley applied for the 2006 scholarships. The winners were honored at the Magic Valley Electric Coop Annual Meeting on April 17th in Weslaco, TX. John Villanueva from Economedes High plans to attend UTPA, Megan Rountree from Harlingen South High will attend the University of Texas at Austin. Cara Smith of Raymondville High will attend Texas A&M in Kingsville, Melody Garcia from Edinburg High will attend UTPA. Joshua G. Hinojosa from South Texas Science Academy will attend Rice University.
