New Construction
Planning a new house?
If you're remodeling your home, building a new home, or just want information on how to lower your electric bill, give us a call! Our marketing representatives are available to assist you with energy efficient ideas that will save you money.
If you're building a new home or planning on building one, you can also ask your contractor or builder about energy efficient home design principles. You'll be saving money on energy even before you break ground!
Here are some of the most critical factors that will influence the home's energy efficiency:
-
House orientation.
-
Thermal integrity of its shell (insulation levels and tightness).
-
Efficiency of the selected heating, cooling, water heating, and other energy-using equipment.
-
Use of natural cooling and passive solar designs to minimize the need for heating and cooling.
Benefits to Homeowners
Homeowners enjoy great benefits from energy efficient construction such as:
-
Lower utility bills. This is the result of higher construction standards as compared to conventional
construction.
-
Increased comfort. Energy efficient construction techniques virtually eliminate drafts and temperature
gradients that make homeowners feel warmer or colder than they really are.
-
Higher resale value. Better constructed, more energy efficient homes are worth more in the marketplace. A
recent survey found that 85% of the respondents believe energy saving features add to a home's resale
value.
-
You may qualify for an energy efficient mortgage. Home buyers purchasing an energy efficient home with
energy consumption that can be documented may qualify for a larger mortgage than they would receive on a conventional home.
